L'Oratoire de Chasse-Spleen

Bordeaux
Bottle 75cl / %
In 1820, the estate was divided between Sieur Gressier and his sister, Madame Castaing, who named it Chasse-Spleen in 1863. The name is linked to either Charles Baudelaire’s *Les Fleurs du Mal* or Lord Byron, who praised the wine’s ability to “chase away dark thoughts.” The Castaing family owned it until 1909, after which it passed through several hands, including the Lahary family in 1920 and Jacques Merlaut in 1976. Céline Villars-Foubet, Jacques’ granddaughter, has managed it since 2000.
